"We actually working on the Diplomat movie -- I don't think I was supposed to say that," Jones told XXL, in an interview during MTV2 and Converse's 'Band of Ballers' basketball event in NYC this past week. "Our success and road to success has been filled with a lot of ups and downs. It's kind of like an action flick if you Google us and read all the news clippings and everything that's been going on while we been on TV. It should be a good movie."
Meanwhile, the long awaited Diplomats reunion album is still being recorded, Jones said, due to conflicting schedules, work ethics and side hustles.
"It hasn't been going as fast as we'd like it to go because everybody got so much business that they're doing aside from where we left it," Jimmy explained. "But we definitely been locking in. Shout outs to Cam, shout outs to Juelz, shout outs to Freekey Zekey. Everybody's on board.
The revered Harlem group reunited last May, after years of tension between leaders Cam and Jones, releasing a new track called 'Salute,' and having since signed with Interscope Records, and recorded with Interscope icon Dr. Dre.While the forthcoming Diplomats reunion LP has no scheduled release date, Jim Jones' latest effort, 'Capo,' is in stores now.
