Wayne has been selected, along with a group of celebrities which includes Michael Jordan, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian, Bill Murray and of course, the dude himself, Jeff Bridges, as nominees, in an attempt to help popularize the sport.
While we're not aware of Kim Kardashian or Justin Bieber's respective level of bowling talent, Weezy reached the finals of Chris Paul's Celebrity Bowling Invitational with help from his partner, PBA Hall of Fame bowler Norm Duke, back in December 2010.
"Each of these 2011 candidates has had a significant impact in helping to keep bowling as one of the nation's most treasured pastimes," a spokesman for the International Bowling Hall of Fame told All Hip Hop in a statement. "If last year's down-to-the-wire showdown between Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber is any indication of what to expect for 2011, we'll be ready for a fierce battle to determine who is the next star to achieve bowling immortality."
Voting for the International Bowling Hall of Fame's celebrity candidates began on July 12, and continues until August 6 -- National Bowling Day -- when the winner will be announced. Fans are encouraged to participate by voting here.
