The 'Pon De River' singer, also known as the "Energy God," appeared in a Kingston, Jamaica court this morning, where his trial date was set for Nov. 30.
Elephant Man was arrested at his home in St. Andrew Parish back on Jun. 2, when police and a team from the Jamaica Public Service Company, the sole distributor of Jamaica's electricity, carried out an operation to inspect local light meters in his apartment complex, and found his meter to contain an illegal connection.
Upon closer inspection, police claim that they discovered several appliances in the reggae performer's apartment, which were connected to the illegal connection. Upon the findings, Elephant Man was arrested him. According to the Jamaica Observer, the singer has pleaded not guilty to the charge of "abstracting electricity."
Elephant Man began as a member of Scare Dem Crew, before launching a successful career as a solo artist. He signed with Bad Boy in 2007, and released an album, 'Let's Get Physical,' which featured Diddy, Busta Rhymes and Wyclef Jean.
