The 'Me and U' singer, who came up under Ryan Leslie's tutelage before signing with Bad Boy and graduating to arm candy for Diddy, has been hard at work on her second LP for the last five years. She recently previewed a snippet of her new single, 'King of Hearts,' which will be premiering in October.
Though her new album was at one point tentatively titled 'Electro Love,' due to its techno and house-influenced dance vibe, Cassie recently appeared on two decidedly hip-hop tracks on Bad Boy's 'The Preview' mixtape, singing over Mobb Deep's classic 'Shook Ones' instrumental on 'Radio,' which also features Fabolous, and collaborating with Jadakiss on the club-minded 'Make You a Believer.'
Discussing the direction of her new single, 'King of Hearts,' with '106 & Park' host Terrence J, rocking her trademark half-shaved haircut with some new blonde highlights, Cassie explained, "I don't want to call it dance 'cause it's not dance, but it has a dance vibe if you want to say that. If we were in this room playin' it right now, everybody would just be hanging from the lights."
Though the model-turned-singer had an admittedly rocky start, bombing her first couple of performances, she went on to reveal that she has been undergoing vocal training to improve her much-maligned pipes.
"[I've been] working with vocal coaches, working really, really, really hard 'cause this is really important to me and I have a lot of great records that I'm excited for everyone to hear," she said.
