Kane Beatz Shares Story of Lil Wayne Launching His Fame

Sometimes a simple co-sign is what's needed to put an already-talented producer over the top. That's what happened with Kane Beatz, recognized for hits like Trey Songz' 'Bottoms Up' and Lupe Fiasco's 'The Show Goes On.' He had his foot in the door before the public knew who he was, working with Young Money on 2010's monster hit 'Bedrock,' however it was the crew's CEO who made him major in 2011.

"As soon as Lil Wayne hit me, we just started working, then he shouted me out on the 'We Be Steady Mobbin'' [track],' Kane tells The BoomBox. "Once he shouted me out, like, 'Kane on the beat,' it was like a flood, because he branded the sound and everybody was rocking with it. So, you know, that was the turning point for me."

Although he's made quite a statement with the YMCMB team, Kane Beatz, born Daniel Johnson, is branching out. He's looking into doing a lot more beatmaking behind the boards for various artists over the next 12 months. The likes of Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, Plies and Mike Posner are a few of the big names that come to mind.

Currently, the Florida native realizes how much he's accomplished but understands how far he must go in order to be legendary. "Last year this time, I had just done 'Bedrock' and it was nominated for [BET Hip-Hop] Song of the Year and I was stupid excited, like, 'Oh my God!'" he shares.

Kane Beatz' production can be heard on Roscoe Dash's latest single 'Good Good Night.'
