According to TMZ, Gerardo Mejia, best known for his '90s hit 'Rico Suave,' is suing Lady Gaga's musical director Fernando Garibay for a hefty sum of $4,000,000. Mejia, who exchanged the mic for an office gig as an A&R executive at Interscope Records, formerly managed Garibay once he left his position at the record label in 2004. Court documents reveal that Mejia is owed money for a "lucrative" deal he made for Garibay in 2007.
In the suit, filed in L.A. County Superior Court, Garibay is listed as the musical director for Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way' album. Besides the singer, he's also shared his talents with the likes of pop star Britney Spears, U2 and more.
There has been no statement issued by Garibay or his camp in response to the 'Rico Suave' rhymer's allegations.
