Odd Future's Left Brain Charged With Battery

After receiving anonymous email threats, Amy Harris, the photographer who claimed Odd Future rapper Left Brain slapped her at the Voodoo Experience festival in New Orleans on Oct. 30, officially pressed charges against the MC on Friday (Nov. 4).

A representative for the New Orleans Police Department confirmed with MTV News that a charge of simple battery has been filed against Left Brain, born Vyron Turner, and that a police investigation is currently underway.

Harris explained her stance in a statement on her website, revealing that she had not initially pressed charges against Turner because she had expected an apology. However, when Odd Future's publicist referred to Harris' claims regarding the incident as "careless and manipulative," and Left Brain attacked her in a post on his Tumblr, she reversed her decision.

"After he so publicly attacked me, I truly believed that an apology would be immediately forthcoming, which is why I declined to press charges at that time," Harris explained. "The unexpected turn of events, including an attack by Odd Future on my credibility and motives for discussing the incident, have caused me to re-evaluate my initial decision. I've contacted an attorney – Amy Borlund with Doll Amir & Eley in Los Angeles – and am pursuing my options. At a minimum, I am seeking a public apology from Vyron Turner. Ultimately, I want a resolution in which Turner is held accountable for his actions."

Harris has also claimed that she has been receiving anonymous email threats over the incident. If found guilty, Left Brain faces a jail term of up to six months and up to $1,000 in fines.
