Rapper Markeise "Killa Keise" Henry, of nearby Benicia, became the city's 13th homicide of 2011, when he was shot to death along Interstate 80 in Vallejo, just before midnight Thursday night (Nov. 10).
Henry's bullet-riddled body was discovered inside a Pontiac, which had crashed into the bushes on the shoulder of Interstate 80, shortly after the shooting. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Vallejo Times Herald, Henry was shot multiple times by an assailant in another vehicle, which had pulled alongside his. As yet, police have no suspects in the shooting, and have refused to comment as to whether Henry was known by the shooters or had been the victim of a random attack.
Henry's murder was the city's 13th in 2011, though it was the first since Aug. 7, when a man was shot to death in a fast-food restaurant parking lot.
Killa Keise was best known for his work with fellow Bay Area reps San Quinn, Cellski, Messy Marv and others, many of whom, like Kreayshawn and Moe Green, honored his memory via Twitter, upon hearing news of his death.
