The 'Ain't Too Proud to Beg' crooner, born Tionne Watkins, may want to rethink her policy on 'Scrubs,' after her inability to make mortgage payments on her $1.2 million home forced her to file documents in a U.S. Bankruptcy Court last month. She reportedly owes creditors $768,642.99.
Though the 41-year-old's monthly expenditures were not particularly exorbitant, taking home a monthly income of $11,700, with expenses of $8,821, according to the court documents procured by TMZ, Watkins claims the chief source of her financial problems was the $250,000 she was owed in back child support.
TLC enjoyed an illustrious, if somewhat tenuous career, scoring four Grammy Awards, ten Top 10 singles, and selling over 30 million total albums. However, Watkins claims to only be receiving $1,200 in royalties per month from her work with the group.
The singer has yet to publicly address her financial problems, and it is not yet known whether her bankruptcy stems, in part, from her medical expenses incurred while fighting off a potentially fatal brain tumor, which she was diagnosed with in 2006.
