Money Clip D Dead: Trae Tha Truth Associate Fatally Shot

Gino DePinto, AOL

Houston's hip-hop community has rallied to hold a candlelight vigil for Trae tha Truth associate Dominic Levar Brown, who was gunned down last week.

Brown, better known as Money Clip D and described as Trae tha Truth's "right-hand man" for managing his ABN group and charity, was fatally shot early Friday morning (Nov. 25), outside a Houston after-hours nightclub.

At 5:30AM on Friday, the 34-year-old, who had spent Thanksgiving day handing out food to underprivileged Houston residents alongside Trae, was reportedly sitting in his car, talking to two women, when an unknown gunman opened fire. Brown was immediately rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

"This is one of those cases where we need witnesses to come forward," a spokesperson for the Houston police told the Houston Chronicle in a statement.

Although Houston police are still searching for leads, Brown's shooting may have been related to a shooting incident that occurred earlier in the evening. Two groups exchanged gunfire outside Breakers nightclub, which Brown reportedly did not hear, thanks to the loud music inside the club. No other injuries were reported.

"We keep losing the good ones," fellow Houston rapper Bun B tweeted. "For Clip's loved ones, my 2 Trill family, my Gladiators and my ABN brothers, I'm saying a prayer to ask GOD to ease our pain."

"Can't Believe My Brother Is Dead," Trae wrote. "Me and My Brother Always Been Side By Side ... Win, Lose or Draw Against Whateva."

Brown will be remembered at a candlelight vigil this coming Wednesday (Nov. 30), from 6-8PM at Houston's Alief Amity Park.

Money Clip D was a great man, friend, jokester, and all around good to everyone no matter what. I knew him more on a family level. Clip and i had talks and a lot of hard laughs. Clip would say things that would make you crack your side laughing at him. He is a true defanition of a all around good person. He help me in so many ways, and he didn't even know it. Clip will be miss for the rest our lives, the house won't be the same without our fallen MONEY CLIP D! We love you, R.I.P
