Since he first stepped on the scene with his syrupy sweet drawl, singer-songwriter sensibilities and masterful, staccato flow, a collaboration between 23-year-old phenom B.o.B. and fellow ATLien Andre 3000 always seemed inevitable.
Six years after his signing, B.o.B. has finally premiered his Salaam Remi-helmed single with Andre, 'Play the Guitar.' While B.o.B. spits an entertaining verse, all bluster and twang, 'Dre predictably slays the reggae-infused, but unspectacular beat, referencing an assortment of random images.
"They don't know nothin' 'bout black pearls, but I will show them/ Why the world sleepin' on black girls, hey I don't know, man," the OutKast rapper riffs. "Silverback Stacks, jumpin out the jungle/ Blowin' tiger stripe bubbles with 'Go to Hell' bubblegum."
Unfortunately, though it was years in the making, B.o.B. and Andre's pairing lacks focus, and is ultimately a tad underwhelming, despite their considerable talents. Check out 'Play the Guitar' below, and let us know what you think.
