As noted by Exclaim!, the outfit fronted by singer Abel Tesfaye took to its Facebook page Jan. 4 seeking musicians who are able to go out on tour and, presumably, survive the inevitable decadence that will ensue.
"The Weeknd is looking for a professional guitarist and bass player in or around the Toronto area to travel and perform live in concert," the post reads. Interested musicians are asked to provide their name, age and what instrument they play as well as pictures and performance footage. "Serious inquiries only please."
The search for musicians ends on Jan. 8 so don't wait to apply. Information should be sent to the group via email at theweekndband@gmail.com.
The news comes after the Weeknd released its latest nine-track album 'Echoes of Silence' on Dec. 21 as a free download and became a Google top trending topic. Earlier in 2011, they released 'House Of Balloons,' which was nominated for a 2011 Polaris Prize and 'Thursday' as well as appearing on Drake's smash LP, 'Take Care.' Although there's no tour itinerary yet, the group had previously indicated a tour would follow the release of the mixtape trilogy.
On Christmas Day, the band tweeted about its 2012 plans, including a re-release of the three 2011 efforts. "I can't wait to re-release The Trilogy as a package, re-mastered for you to collect with bonus features..."
