Syd's accusations and concern for the lack of gay urban artists is probably going to ruffle a few feathers. Since the release of her 'Cocaine' video -- released as part of the group the Internet alongside Matt Martians -- Syd the Kyd has been the subject of controversy and triumph for the gay community.
Even though she is a self-proclaimed "out" entertainer, Syd still has a tough time with being asked if she's gay. "I've been asked it so many times. It's annoying, it's like, you can't answer that yourself? And awkward because it's not like they're going up to the other guys in the group and asking if they're straight. Now I don't have to answer that question outright. Because I don't want to. It's not that I'm not proud of who I am."
