Lauded rhymer Luther "Uncle Luke" Campbell revealed that he and his Crew members would tour in the forthcoming summer months. Luke announced the news Saturday (Jan. 21) at the Sundance Film Festival, where he is promoting his short film, 'The Life and Freaky Times of Uncle Luke.'
"We're going to perform the songs and everybody's going to be excited," Campbell, 51, stated. "Some of the older people of our generation will be able to tell their kids, 'You're staying home tonight, we're going to see 2 Live Crew and shake our booty!'"
"I just can't wait to just start practicing. That's going to be a blast," he continued.
2 Live Crew have recorded eight albums together. Besides Luke, members Fresh Kid Ice, Mr. Mixx, Amazing V., Brother Marquis and Verb found fame within the group. While the reunion has been announced, there hasn't been news on just which members will take part.
As a group, they released their first single 'Revelation,' in 1985. One of their most accepted LPs was their 1989 album 'As Nasty as They Wanna Be.' The project was recognized for its obscenity-laden lyrics, which even resulted in the arrest of three of the group's members in 1990. 'As Nasty as They Wanna Be' went on to sell more than 2 million copies. Their last album, 'The Real One,' was released in 1998.
