Alori Joh Dead: Singer and Kendrick Lamar Affiliate Dies at 25

UPDATE: After news surfaced that singer Alori Joh died in February, reports show that she leapt from a radio tower in Compton, Calif., and fell to her death on Feb. 6. A coroner confirmed Joh's death, which was ruled a suicide. The body of the entertainer, born Loriana Johnson, was found at the base of the radio transmission tower in unincorporated Rancho Dominguez near Compton.

Alori Joh, a West Coast native who worked alongside some of Top Dawg Entertainment's rising artists including Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q and Ab-Soul, has passed away at 25. Details are scarce at the time of this report, but information obtained from Twitter reveals the songstress died between Tuesday (Feb. 7) and Wednesday (Feb. 8).

Lamar's national exposure over the last two years helped to bring attention towards Alori's vocal abilities. She sang on 'Heaven & Hell,' a song that appeared on his 'Overly Dedicated' mixtape in 2010. She was also featured on 'HiiiPOWER,' featured on the rap star's lauded project 'Section.80.'

Schoolboy Q, who featured Alori on 'Phenomenon,' a song off his 'Setbacks' mixtape, released last year, paid homage to the fallen entertainer by "smoking one" and shared the news with his Twitter followers.



Rhymer Ab-Soul worked with Alori on his track 'More of a Euphoria' and was a friend to the chanteuse. On Feb. 7, Sydney Holloway, Alori's sister, contacted the rapper via Twitter to inquire about Alori's whereabouts. Ab-Soul admitted he was "worried" due to the fact no one could get in contact with her. A day later, Holloway wrote the following messages on her Twitter account.

Last year, a solo project from the singer was released. 'The Love Religion' featured Ab-Soul on the track 'Happy Medium' and other cuts like 'Let You Shine' and 'Bring My Freak Out.'

Alori Joh's cause of death is still unknown.

It is unfortunate that one can be so insensitive about the passing of another. Alori was beautiful, talented, caring and intelligent. She was a college graduate and no she was not a rapper..she was a singer and it is unfortunate that those of us who loved and cared about her will never see her or hear her beautiful voice again. And although you may have never heard of her it still does not take away from the fact that she meant something to someone besides yourself. It is sad that you would resort to jokes at the expense of someone else's grief... God forbid that something should happen to you or to one of your loved ones...I am sure that you would not appreciate an individual like yourself making a joke of your tragedy..Show some respect!!! RIP Alori...those of us who knew you loved you...I will definitely miss you!!

And although you may have never heard of her it still does not take away from the fact that someone that had that much going for them is gone from this world. God forbid that something should happen to you or one of your loved ones...I am sure that you would not appreciate an individual like yourself making a joke of your tragedy..Show some respect...RIP Alori...those of us who knew you loved you!

Non of these artists, I use the term loosely, are nationwide. they are local to regional at best. Think the writer was a fan to give such extra credit to their notarity.Sad she died so young though.

My thoughts and prayers go out to her family, friends, and love ones. I find it sad and shameful that so much hate appears in alot of the comments..And just for all those racist folks that think rappers are bunk or blacks dont contribute, I am here to tell ya I am a 52 yr old white grandmother of 3 who enjoys all types of music, including some rap.. Dont think you can throw all in one basket and judge and please stop thinking you speak for all the rest of us... I may not like some of the rougher gangsta rap but if you took the time to really listen most rap tells a story that even if we dont want to hear it we need to. so go sit on your tailgate and pop another red neck beer or something.... A lovely young talented woman lost her life we dont know the reason but its not important... she is gone and her family are hurting thats what matters.... RIP Alori

Why do you think we care or need to know that you are a 52 year old white grandmother of three that enjoys some rap? You giving us your mini autobiography proves no point and adds nothing to the conversation.

You being who you are doesn't prove or disprove a solitary thing.

So sad that a young woman leaves this life so soon. Obviously she was needed more elsewhere and had to go. To her folks, her siblings and all those whose lives she touched; I AM sorry for your loss and by the sound of it, OUR loss. She is in trusted hands now and at peace.What does it matter how one leaves this realm as 1 lost life is HEAVY. peace
