Ray J, Whitney Houston Funeral: Singer Will Attend, Calls Her 'Nippy'

NEW YORK (AP) - Ray J - who was one of the people who spent time with Whitney Houston in her last days - is expressing his sorrow over her loss.

In a statement to The Associated Press on Friday, he said he's spent the last few days trying to "process the emptiness that I feel."

The singer said the world lost an icon but he lost a "close friend." Calling her by her nickname, he added: "Nippy I miss you so much!"

His representative, Courtney Barnes, says Ray J, whose sister is singer Brandy, will be at Saturday's funeral for Houston in Newark, N.J.

Ray J and Houston spent time together in the days before her death. She died in a hotel suite in Beverly Hills, Calif., last Saturday.

To bad Whitney was so selfish.....she left her family and daughter behind and screwed up her voice just so she could be high!!!!!!!!!

The saying is that God won't give you more than you can handle. But I believe when He sees you trying to handle more and handle it the wrong way or sees that you can no longer handle it without His guidance, He brings you home to take you out of your hurt, pain, and sadness. This was Whitney's time to go home so that she wouldn't have any more pain, suffering, or temptation. God saw that it was all getting too strong for you to handle alone here on your earthly home, so He had to take you to your heavenly home. RIP Whitney, no more tears or pain for you. Thank you for your beautiful voice and talent. I will miss you! Thanks to Cissy for letting us, your fans, grieve with the family. Such a wonderful and unselfish gesture! Praying for you all.

Whitney has been a part of most of my life. I knew every song, word-for-word, without a doubt. She has inspired me in so many ways and I will miss her tremendously. I am devastated and broken. Her beautiful voice has carried me through so many of my lifetime situations. Thank you Whitney.....for being there when noone else was.

It is a sad time we lost such a superstar vocalist...but the one most lost... was Whitney. Seems it was the only way she felt to handle or overcome her difficulties in dealing with her problems. As a person with any intelligence...knows mixing prescriptions drugs and antibiotics along with alcohol will only result in a bad way. Consciously or unconsciously...her failures and disappointments was all she could see rather than her stardom or even being there for her daughter.
Instead...She just could not face another day.
I am too sad too see another talent like her, Michael Jackson and so many others, that cannot realize the music is the high...not the affect of the drugs!
It is such a shame they lost their way thru drugs! I cannot understand throwing away their lives like this! Maybe others can learn from this tragic loss and find their way before they themselves self destruct as this talented lady of music! It is a sad time for all of us!

Michael wasn't taking drugs to get high, he was taking them to get sleep but both are very stupid reasons to do drugs. These ppl that have kids and do drugs for the high are pure selfish, their children are the victims of the drugs and the idiots that use them just for a temporary high. Michael was also an idiot for using drugs to get sleep when he was warned several times that they could cause major problems, he also was very selfish for using a drug that he knew could kill him after being warned by the nurse so many times. Thanks to Whitney and Michael's incredibly stupid and selfish actions their children are now forced to go through the rest of their lives without one of their parents, pure selfishness! I refuse to be sad for either of these two, they were adults, both parents that made choices that unfortunately left their children without one of their parents and both had so much to live for. See ya Whitney! It's a shame you couldn't think of someone other than yourself for a change, too bad you couldn't put your daughter first, she probably took a backseat to the drugs most of her life. How sad!

My condolences to the family. I know how it feels to lose a mother it is heartbreaking. Bobbi Kristina hold on to God. Do not blame God. Death is part of life. When we lose someone we are sad because it will be a long time before we see t hem again. However, we will see Whitney again. Remember that she is now in God's hand singing for him with that beautiful voice and soul of hers. I will truly miss her because she was a wonderful person. Your family are in our prayers.

Whitney Houston was human. I God made all of us. We all have our cross to bare. God knows she was in love with him and he will take care of her soul. To her family be bless. Whitney has did something all of us has to do one day.
