The elaborate, sequined and beaded stage piece was the star among 13 pieces from the late legend's closet, showcased in the auction house's Hollywood Legends series, AOL Music reports. A grey velvet gown worn by Houston at a pre-Grammy part in 1996 went for $11,250, while a pair of the icon's pearl drop earrings, which she wore on the set of "The Bodyguard," sold for $2,812. More of Whitney's possessions are set to be auctioned off this June (2012).
''What we have now is all we're going to have from Whitney Houston," celebrity auctioneer Darren Julien explained. "That makes her memorabilia sought after by high end collectors and fans," he added.
We do have one last piece of Whitney to look forward to and remember her by. The trailer for her final film project "Sparkle," debuted today. The movie hits theaters Aug. 17.
