"It's a lotta fire, a lotta black smoke, a lotta rioting," the Atlanta MC told us. "It felt good to do the video, it came together pretty cool. I can't wait to see it on my big screen."
We couldn't either, and now, the wait is over. The rapper's description pretty much nailed it: "Riot" is set in a burned-out urban landscape marked by graffiti-covered walls and chain-link fences. It looks almost post-apocalyptic, though sadly, it's probably more inner-city reality than it is Blade Runner fantasy.
"Energy, crowd participation, riot gear," Chainz said of the clip. "That became the concept."
Sure enough, the "Riot" extras smash car windows, chuck Molotov cocktails against brick walls and hoist baseball bats over their heads. It looks like a revolution is about to go down, though Chainz explains clearly in the lyrics how folks can avoid violence.
"If you f--- with us we're gonna start up a riot," he raps.
Lesson: Don't f--- with 2 Chainz, whose debut LP will premiere in August via Def Jam.
