Admitting he's been sober and off drugs for seven years, Brown revealed that he was clueless about Houston's own drug use up until the time of her death. "I was hurt. I was hurt ... Because, you know, me being off of narcotics for the last seven years -- I felt that she was, you know, I didn't know she was struggling with it still," said Brown, who pled no contest last Wednesday (April 26) to his March DUI arrest.
However, the father of 19-year-old Bobbi Kristina, the daughter he shares with Houston, sympathized with the lauded chanteuse's battle with narcotics. "But at the same time, you know-- listen, it's a hard fight," Brown told Lauer. "It's a hard fight to, you know, maintain sobriety that way."
Brown, who's been tagged as the man who introduced Houston to cocaine, denies the accusations. "I didn't get high before I met Whitney ... I smoked weed, I drank the beer, but no, I wasn't the one that got Whitney on drugs at all," he shares.
Bobby Brown's two-part interview with Matt Lauer airs Wednesday (May 2) and Thursday (May 3) on NBC.
