Beyonce, Video Game Lawsuit: Judge Sets Trial, Singer's Lawyers Keep Quiet

NEW YORK (AP) - A Manhattan judge says a lawsuit by a video-game developer against Beyonce can go to trial.

The decision was made by Justice Charles Ramos.

The company, Gate Five, claims the superstar backed out of a $20 million deal for a game called "Starpower: Beyonce."

The Grammy Award-winning singer's lawyers contend they were within their rights to opt out of the deal because Gate Five didn't have its financing in place.

But the company says Beyonce knew it was ready to sign a contract with its financier on Dec. 6, 2010 when she pulled out three days earlier.

According to the New York Post, the judge said Beyonce should have given the company notice.

Her lawyers declined to comment.

She needs to learn if you want to run with the big dogs, you play by the rules- being a so-called celebrity doesn't give you the right to default on a whim - business is business. Next she'll claim she's being discriminated against because she's black.

How about the Prince she did a private concert for that supported terrorists? Tell me she had no idea, duh. And the New Years Eve gig she did with other known affiliates of terrorism. She doesn't care about anything but Green Backs, $. She is a disgrace to America, so is her pimp husband!!!!!!

if a judge says it will go to trial, there is probably enough evidence to convict...

will be interesting to watch her dance her way out of this one.. or settle and do what she signed up to do.

Someone got greedy and now it is their bosses money on the line. I agree the singer probablem only had the minimum information but teh buck stops with her and it will be up to her to sue her own people if she loses. She wanted the money her names brings and she gave someone permission to act on her behalf.

I know it makes the story more interesting to readers but no way was Beyonce an actual part of this. She would have been given pertinent details and the like, but it's extremely unlikely she made any of the moves outside of agreeing to do the game at the agreed upon pay. Once the big players have sat down and discussed details everything AFTER that is delegated to others.

I will bet enormous sums of money, especially after the wording "singer's lawyers contend they were within their rights" that she not only didn't back out on her own, but that she had no idea the financing was even at issue.

I don't have any feelings one way or the other about Beyonce, I don't know her , but it's absurd to think that she would have the time and knowledge needed to broker and negotiate her own deals. I mean seriously the amount of people involved is astronomical, and when you start adding the monetary figures it and who gets a cut of what and who needs to sign off on or permit something. There is just ZERO way a celebrity of her magnitude would be personally involved with negotiations and decisions like this.

If you wanna hate on her, hate on her, but this isn't a legit reason to be pissed off at her.
