Lauryn Hill Charged With Failing to File Taxes on $1.6 Million Income

AP

Lauryn Hill is in big trouble with Uncle Sam. The "Everything Is Everything" singer has been charged with failing to file taxes in New Jersey for a reported $1.6 million income she earned over a three-year period.

The former Fugees member is charged with three counts for failing to file income taxes in 2005, 2006 and 2007, according to U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman.

For each count, Hill, who hails from South Orange, N.J., faces a maximum penalty of a year in prison and a $100,000 fine -- that's three years in jail and $300,000.

Her attorney, Nathan Hochman of Bingham McCutchen, didn't immediately respond to messages seeking comment about the matter, reports The Star-Ledger.

She is set to appear before a judge to face the three charges on June 29.

Pay your taxes, moron, not an overly complicated concept. Also, it's plain and simply time to stop having children as the size of your particular brood was sufficient long ago.
