The interview began rather typically, with Brandy discussing a variety of current topics, including her reasoning behind collaborating with troubled singer Chris Brown, but when she was played a snippet from Whitney's final song, "Celebrate," a collaboration with Jordin Sparks, Brandy could not hold back her tears.
"That's my first time hearing the snippet of the new song," the tearful singer explained. "It's tough. This woman has meant everything to me. To know that she's no longer with us in the physical is very tough. It's been tough for me, and I'm pretty sure everyone who's been touched by her music, and who she was as a person so ... I'm sorry, I didn't know that was gonna happen."
Though moved, Brandy continued to speak about how Whitney's voice "touches my soul," and gave some important advice for her troubled daughter Bobbi Kristina.
"I think whatever is making her happy and whatever voice that she's following in her heart, she should continue," Brandy said. "It takes a brave young soul to go forward and carry out a legacy that's so huge and has touched so many people, so I'm so proud of her."
