Jamie Foxx Reveals 'Grown Man' Talk With Rick Ross, Favors Frank Ocean, Ca$h Out, Elle Varner

Jamie Foxx may be focused on his acting career at the moment but he's not ready to leave his music roots behind. The Oscar-winning thespian, who picked up a Best R&B Performance Grammy in 2010, for his T-Pain assisted hit "Blame It," is headed back into the studio to work on new songs for an upcoming album. For Foxx, who has released two platinum-selling works -- 2005's Unpredictable and 2008's Intuition -- singing has always been a labor of love. He's found inspiration by working with a few notable friends in the business.

"I'm always working on new music," he tells The BoomBox. "My music partner, Breyon Prescott, is gathering music for me. I was with Rick Ross [recently] just chopping it up. He's a friend of mine and we also talk on the music tip, gathering ideas on how do I keep appealing to young folks, but at the same time keep my grown man on. I want to keep it grown enough to where my daughter is not going, "Dad, what are you doing? Cut it out [laughs]."

Foxx has been a busy man. He has already filmed the much anticipated Quentin Tarantino slave-inspired movie "Django Unchained" and is now working on the presidential thriller "White House Down." But even through all his acting pursuits, he still finds time to be a music fan.

"I listen to Frank Ocean on a daily," Foxx says of the R&B vocalist who recently opened up about his sexuality, admitting his first love was a man. "I like what Kanye West is doing. I'm listening to my favorites right now -- Tank, Tyrese and Ginuwine, who got a new album together. And I like that new girl Elle Varner who has that joint 'Refill.'"

"And as far as hip-hop is concerned Future's 'Same Damn Time' is in my rotation," Foxx continues. "And I like 'Cashin' Out'... I couldn't wait see Ca$h Out at the BET Awards. My daughter was looking at me like, 'Dad, you really embarrassing me.' I just like the dude in the background that says, 'Nina!'"

"Django Unchained" is set for a Dec. 25 release.
