Run-DMC Reunion Will Take Place at Fun Fun Fun Fest This Fall

AP

NEW YORK (AP) - They haven't performed together in over a decade, but the surviving members of Run-DMC are set to reunite this fall at the Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin, Texas.

Joseph Simmons, now known as Rev. Run, and Darryl "DMC" McDaniels retired the group after their DJ, Jam Master Jay, was killed in 2002. But it was announced Tuesday that the band will be among the performers for the Nov. 2-4 event. Festival organizers say they plan to donate some of the proceeds to the JMJ Foundation for Music, which works to give youth access to the arts.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group is best known for hits like "Walk This Way," ''It's Like That" and "My Adidas."

i guess tha make steven tyler not a musician as well. good thing aerosmith provided him with the music. Actually they had several hits, and hired musicians to play music on alot of their albums. they were the first hip hop band to use rock beats and guitars in alot of their songs. they surely paid tribute to rock music which they liked as well as the hip hop music they grew up around in the neighborhoods they lived in. I dont know why people seperate themselves and a genre of music such as they cant like rap because they like rock or vice versa, its music enjoy it no matter what form it comes in.

Suuuuure rel.......we believe ya. There's no chance you could have a "vested interest" in the Co. you speak of. You're just a "home Boy, keepin' it real......spreadin the word throughout the hood, curzin the scene, wit a gangsta lean..........in ya fly Camaro.

They ARE NOT A BAND!!!! Bands are groups of MUSICIANS who join together to MAKE MUSIC. These guys speak to a beat......a beat none of them provide.......they use musicians to furnish that. When they pick up instruments and play something one could call MUSIC, then and ONLY THEN could they be called a band........No matter how many "RAP FANS" call these guys "ground breaking", "pioneers", "ahead of their time"...........THEY STILL ARE NOT MUSICIANS.

Doesn't the word band imply that the members of the band play an actual musical instrument?
