Queen Latifah Adopting a Child, 'Working On' Starting a Family

A young prince or princess may be in the cards for Queen Latifah, who revealed today on "The View" that she's "working on" adopting a child, WENN.com reports. The rapper, actress and singer told host Barbara Walters that a TV movie was the impetus for her getting the ball rolling on raising a little one.

"I think I saw one of those specials ... you know those movies of the week," said the 42-year-old superstar. "And it was like... I just always wanted to bring a child home."

"So if you got a kid that you don't [want] ... Just give me a year -- let me set up camp and send me the kid!" she jokingly added.

Born Dana Owens, Latifah has long faced -- and deflected -- questions regarding her sexuality, and earlier this year, she denied that her performance at a California gay pride event amounted to her coming out as a lesbian.

I would love to see Queen Latifah adopt. I think she would make a great mom, seeing as how she has always wanted to adopt, she’s funny and she has a few roles in kids’ films. I’m sure she’ll come out when she’s ready. I love the View and I watch the recording every day on my Hopper. Thanks to the suggestion of my Dish coworker, I upgraded to this Whole Home DVR and I am able to start watching in the living room and then I can continue watching in my dining room. This is so convenient and it saves me a ton of time!

I understand that she was joking, but her comment about "So if you got a kid that you don't [want] ... Just give me a year ..." was really tasteless and pretty insulting to the thousands of children in this country living in foster care praying for a family of their own. How sad for them if they hear that... some are so desperate, but she says "just give me a year..."

Don't you think she should figure out her own sexuality and own up to it (whatever it may be), before adopting a child?
I am all for adopting, I am adopted myself, but I really hope she is serious, and isn't just wanting a child to be like everyone else. To me, in my opinion, she doesn't come across serious about being a parent. I hope she takes a good self inventory before she adopts.

The teaser for this article should read that she is adopting her first child: as my mother told me growing up, don't refer to children as "kids". A kid is the name of a baby goat - not that I would scoff at adopting a baby goat - they are cute, but human babies are children and technically not "kids". Just sayin'.

I think Queen will make a great mom. I do wish that she and others that have the ability to adopt would do so here in America. We have plenty of children that need good loving homes here. No one should go abroad to find a child. Help should start at home and then go overseas if there is extra.

I love Queen Latifah but kids are not just a tax write off. I hope that this is what she really wants. I mean there are so many children out there who need a loving home and I wish Queen Latifah and here new baby all the luck in the world.

She should get a dog to carry around. Kids are not an accessory which I think it will be for her. As I recall, she was arrested for shoplifting years ago so while she has had success in show business, I wonder about her character. Oh well, I guess it could be worse.
