The Atlanta native has had a steady rise to this current moment of glory. His debut album comes in two weeks but he's not new to the block, being formerly of the rap duo Playaz Circle, signed under Ludacris' label Disturbing The Peace.
However, his new associations have brought him better luck. His feature on the G.O.O.D Music track "Mercy" currently sits at No. 1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop charts. His track "No Lie" featuring Drake, follows right behind, sitting at No. 3. Also, his catchy, easy flow has been widely mocked, evident by Twitter users who created the popular trending topic #WhatWould2ChainzSay. There's no denying that this is 2 Chainz' time to shine.
And if the music 2 Chainz has already released made him hot, his new album will only add to the momentum. On the effort, he follows his current format of braggadocio lyrics over bass-heavy, aggressive beats, made all his own with his signature rap delivery.
His song topics remain mostly in the realm of drugs, money, strippers and the flashy jewelry like his moniker and as seen on the album's cover. The LP is also feature-heavy with appearances from a collective of hip-hop's heavy hitters.
The intro track titled "Yuck!" features Lil Wayne and they're searching for two things, "Where the drugs?" and "Where the love at?" 2 Chainz follows up with the trap record "Crack," where he spits, "Started from the trap now I rap/ No matter where I'm at I got crack."
When it comes to the opposite sex, 2 Chainz keeps it vain and unattached. On his new single "Birthday Song" featuring Kanye West, he raps, "All I want for my birthday is a big booty hoe!" -- a line that is already catching fire. On The-Dream-assisted "Extremely Blessed," he gets a tad bit romantic with the slowed down beat -- but not really as he rhymes, "Our first date was the waffle house."
The rapper continues with the hook-driven tracks like "I Luv Dem Strippers" featuring Nicki Minaj, which centers around the aforementioned song title. During the song, he randomly channels R&B group New Edition's "Mr. Telephone Man," singing in his best voice, "When I call my baby's number I get a click every time." He also makes it known that the current economic state is not effecting his pockets on the Don Cannon-produced track "I Feel Good," rapping that he's, "at the strip club during the recession."
Throughout the duration of the listening party, 2 Chainz stood by the DJ booth doing his "cookin'" dance to his music in between his prideful promoting.
"This album is worth buying," he proclaimed.
Four songs that will be featured on the deluxe edition of the 13-track album were not played during the listening party.
