Mariah Carey 'Triumphant (Get 'Em)' Video: Rick Ross, Meek Mill Join Singer in the Ring

Abdeljalil Bounhar, AP

There are a number of ways Mariah Carey could have gone with her new Nick Cannon-directed video for "Triumphant (Get 'Em)." But Mimi went literal, enlisting guest rappers Rick Ross and Meek Mill for a boxing fantasy befitting of the song's chorus: "Stay on your toes/ Get off the ropes/ Don't let them ever count you out."

It's hard to argue with the casting. Rozay plays the flamboyant promoter-manager -- a sort of Don King character, complete with fur coat -- while Carey slips into slinky dresses for her role as ringside eye candy. Mill stars as the fighter, swinging away with Rocky-esque determination.

The visuals arrive as Carey makes headlines for her alleged anger over Nicki Minaj being considered for the "American Idol" cast of judges. When she signed up for the show, Mariah was reportedly told she'd be the only female judge, and in the spirit of this clip, we at The BoomBox propose a solution: Mimi vs. Nicki, three rounds, winner take all. The triumphant party gets to rate wannabe singers on the hit Fox series, while the loser gets demoted to "America's Got Talent."

"Triumphant (Get 'Em)" appears on Carey's forthcoming 14th album, due next year.

Mariah,
I like you but you are hiding your voice behind rappers and back up singers. Please just go back to your roots and sing. It's that simple. You will have a huge hit again if you can let your voice be heard.

I went, I saw. Well some of it. I quickly left. Garbage begets garbage. I do hope that the most beautiful flower grows in a heaping pile of dung,

Oh Mariah , where do I begin.......your new release is not doing well because of two reasons . First of all.....you joned with these rappers in attempt to stay relevant with the current market style , but you forgot what made you a superstar.......YOU and YOUR music . You "are relevant" and you just need to do "YOU" . Rap is what went wrong with the Music Industry , and instead of trying to join sides with it....you need to stay strong and shine (outside of it) . Secondly.....the song just isn't that good . Mainly because you structured it around these Rappers . Mariah....just be YOU....you are awesome and we need YOU back.....not some deluted version of you to satisfy a brainwashed audience or a foolish label . Forget what the label tells you....they are idiots which is proven by their own demise . Wait until your contract runs out....record YOUR music....and release it yourself . Get in contact with Prince....he'll be glad to help you with that (I'm sure) . BE YOURSELF MARIAH :)
