Usher's Child Custody Battle Ends With Surprise Verdict

Getty Images for BET

After a bitter custody battle between Usher and his ex-wife Tameka Raymond, TMZ reports that a judge has awarded the primary custody of the couple's two sons to the R&B singer. Both parties were attempting to strip the other of custody.

Tameka not only accused Usher of using drugs in front of the kids but also claimed he was an absentee dad, too focused on his career to actually father his sons. Usher called his ex-wife "inattentive and irresponsible."

This trial has involved a number of emotional moments, including one when the "U Got It Bad" singer actually started crying while testifying on the stand. Accusations and name-calling have flown with wild abandon so this marks the end of a dramatic cycle of meltdowns.

It is unclear as of yet what rights Tameka will retain, but the boys will be spending the majority of the time with their father.

I'm happy how this turned out because it sounds like she was trying to get money to take care of all her kids not just his. Plus why can't fathers have custody of thier kids if women can do it alone, so can men!

Marilynn ---
The son that passed wasn't her only other child. She has three other children surviving from her first relationship, plus the two with Usher.

I am soooo happy that Usher got his boys because that's all he wanted, a happy family with a wife and kids. Tameka needs to take heed of her motives and actions and become a little more humble, especially after all of the things that are happening in her life. God does not like ugliness, and is not to keen on beauty either if your spirit is not right. So Usher, take care of your babies and pray for her to find peace within herself that all of the money in the world CANNOT BUY! Blessings Mama C

She sued him for more childsupport after he had two more songs after the divorce .She already got at least 5 figures a month from him. She is ugly and money hungry and l am glad Usher got the kids and not her. A gold digger right from the start. She used those kids for money. Now she has no excuse to go to work and stop living of Ushers money. Needless to say , she will have more kids with yet another, 3rd, dad. Collecting...money from all. What happend to her Son who had the accident ?. Kinda funny she complains what bad dad Usher is when she leaves her Son out on the water without any adult to get run over by a jet ski.Who pays his hospital bills. l don't want to sound cold but SHE does not have that kind of money.

Some people use children as a career to make money. Disgusting. Glad & happy for the children & Usher.

How could he do this so soon after she lost her only other child. I hope he is lenient with visitation as she is in so much pain.

It is good to see a father win in family court which is rare. I wonder how much he had to spend on lawyers and such,it is a shame though that the average father still gets screwed over in family court because of lack of funds.

It is nice to see a father win custody. Let's hope the same happens in the Halley Berry case.

Halle seems like a very good parent. Why would the dad get sole custody? If both parents, work, are not mentaly unsound, or use drugs or alcohol then most should be awarded joint custody. It is only fair. Half the time with mom, half with dad. Both sould live near one another so that the children are able to go the same school & be near their friends & both families. I did it this way & it worked out fine. Why should the kids miss being with one parent only get every other weekend??? Doesn't make sense. Alot of women make more money than the men these days.

BTW, I am a female & it was my idea to handle it this way for the kids sake. If you are money hungry or bitter & want revenge on you spouse, you probably are not thinking of the children anyway. Too bad.
