According to HITS Daily Double, Kendrick is likely to move approximately 200,000 copies of his Aftermath debut, which should easily land him in Billboard's top 5. The album currently sits at No. 2 on iTunes' overall albums chart, as compared to his critically acclaimed 2011 indie release Section.80, which peaked at No. 113.
Meanwhile, fans will notice that the album does not feature the Lady Gaga collaboration Kendrick previously announced (for better or worse). The track in question, "Bitch, Don't Kill My Vibe," was supposed to feature Gaga's vocals, but apparently they weren't able to secure her appearance in time for the release.
"The fact is I had to realize the business end of this game. I come from the grind where we put out mixtapes. You ain't gotta worry about clearances or even deadlines and with that situation, that situation was a deadline situation," Kendrick told MTV. "We had to meet these pre-orders. I was frustrated about it. My team was frustrated about it, but at the same time, we had to move forward."
Despite being unable to clear Gaga's vocals, Kendrick claims that the two artists are still friendly, and the two songs they've recorded are still "in the can," for later release.
"The records are still in the can," he continued. "That's two joints, so the music is there."
