Nas Tax Lien: State of Georgia Files Court Order for $1 Million Over Unpaid Debt

According to TMZ, the state of Georgia has filed a lien against Nas, attempting to collect $1,083,435 for taxes it claims the Queens rapper owes for the years 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010.

In pursuit of this debt, the Georgia Department of Revenue has obtained a court order requiring Live Nation, who is promoting Nas' co-headlining tour with Lauryn Hill, to garnish Nas' wages until the debt is resolved.

While a rep for Nas assured TMZ that the matter had been settled, the Georgia Dept. of Revenue claims that the debt remains outstanding.

In October, the rapper lost his Georgia home to foreclosure.

Meanwhile, Lauryn Hill is facing far more serious consequences for her financial problems, including up to three years in prison for failure to pay federal taxes on $1.8 million earned between 2005 and 2007.
