According to reports, Davis got into an altercation after exiting a city bus in West Englewood, just blocks from his house, wearing a sweatshirt honoring Lil JoJo.
"He was killed because he was wearing a hoodie and getting off the bus," Davis' 24 year-old-sister Selina Davis said. "He was a great boy. He was only a baby."
The slain teen's cousin, Johnathan Moody, also 18, said he and his friends had warned Davis about wearing the Lil JoJo sweatshirt.
"We would tell him, 'That ain't good to wear that hoodie.' But that was his best friend," Moody said. "It's dumb. To kill someone over a hoodie? It's pointless, man. All this murder is pointless."
Davis' sister also lamented Chicago's recent increase in gun violence. "Kids killing kids. Mothers burying their kids ... How is this humanly possible that we as people cannot get these teenagers under control? I don't get it," she said. "Who takes someone's life on Christmas?"
Police are currently investigating the case to try to uncover a connection between JayLoud and JoJo's deaths, and Chief Keef's controversial 3Hunna Squad.
Thus far, the police have no suspects.
