LL Cool J appears on "Oprah's Next Chapter" on Sunday (Jan. 27), where the hip-hop star the opens up about abuse he faced as a young child.

Though quick to explain that the violation was not sexual, in the segment with Oprah, LL vividly describes the physical torment and torture he faced at the hands of a family friend.

"It wasn't sexual. It was just beatings, take all of your clothes off ... Kicked out in the snow, stay outside," LL explains, of the punishments meted out by his mother's friend "Roscoe."

"Beat with vacuum cleaner pipes. Strip naked, put your hands on the bunk bed," he solemnly intones.

LL revealed the abuse in his 1998 autobiography, I Make My Own Rules, but his interview with Oprah is the first time he's discussed it publicly. The full episode airs Sunday on Oprah's OWN network, at 9PM ET.

he turned out to be a good role model. he didn't end up becoming an abuser and for this he deserves a ton of credit! those that harms kids or animals are the lowest of living things!

So many parents let abuse go on. The verbal word is more damaging then the beatings. To be told you are **** and nothing hbut **** all the timeyou are growing up can destroy a child and turn them into a destroyed adult. I am greatful that these people who are stars come forward and let kids that look up to them know that they too were hurt by people who loved them and encourage these abused kids to go to someone , cops, teachers, that can help them, get out of the situation and p-unish the abuser. I busted my ass to graduate at 16 to get out of that house I was raised in . With a full scholar ship to a college out of state so I never had to go back. If abused kids can get the helpn they need they can stop the circle of abuse because then they will not continue down that road and abuse their own kids.

Only a coward abuses a defenseless child. I should know, I spent my childhood living in fear with a domestic terrorist. He's dead now and believe me, the world is better off without him.

That's good to talk about it and get this infor out there because children need to be heard out there and Maybe someday someone will LISTEN TO THEM AND HEAR THEM.

What's even worse than that is verbal/emotional abuse. I endured my fair share of that on and off when I was in high school and at times afterward as well. I'm still not 100% healed of that but I forgave those who verbally bullied me. God's graces are what got me through it.

In the fall of 1985 "My Radio" dropped and hip hop changed again. Peace to Uncle L.
