Robert Glasper Experiment, Grammys 2013: 'Black Radio' Wins Best R&B Album

Joe Klamar, AFP

Robert Glasper Experiment's album Black Radio won the Best R&B Album award at the 2013 Grammy Awards.

Glasper, a 34-year-old jazz pianist, collaborated with a host of popular hip-hop and R&B artists on Black Radio. Erykah Badu, Lupe Fiasco, Ledisi, Yasiin Bey AKA Mos Def, among others, joined him on the project, which was met with nearly universal critical acclaim.

Black Radio beat out Back To Love (Anthony Hamilton); Write Me Back (R. Kelly); Beautiful Surprise (Tamia) and Open Invitation (Tyrese).

That's stiff competition, but we think the Grammys made the right choice.
