Beyonce, Pregnancy: Singer Opens Up to 'Vogue' Magazine

Beyonce opens up about motherhood, among other subjects, in an expansive profile in Vogue.

[Blue Ivy's] my road dog," Beyoncé says of her one-year-old daughter with Jay-Z. "She's my homey, my best friend."

The singer says she felt a strong kinship with the baby before she even gave birth.

"I felt very maternal around eight months," she says. "And I thought I couldn't become any more until I saw the baby. . . . But it happened during my labor because I had a very strong connection with my child."

She said it was she imagined Blue Ivy inside her, working away.

"I felt like when I was having contractions, I envisioned my child pushing through a very heavy door," she explains. "And I imagined this tiny infant doing all the work, so I couldn't think about my own pain. . . . We were talking. I know it sounds crazy, but I felt a communication."

Beyonce goes on to reveal that Blue Ivy has added conditional meaning to her life.

"I feel like I have something that has grounded me so much more," she says. "Family has always been important. I've always had my mother and my father and my husband. But it's just. . . ." She pauses. "Life is so much more than. . . It's not defined by any of this."

She also scoffs at the notion that she faked her pregnancy.

"That was very odd," she says. "Who even thinks that? Like, who would make that up. . . . You can't take it too seriously."

But she plans to have more children, so she better get used to the rumors.

"When I was younger, there were moments where I said, 'I'm not going to have children,'" Beyoncé confesses. "And then moments when I wanted four. And now I definitely want another, but I don't know when."

Beyonce took home the Best Traditional R&B Performance trophy at the 2013 Grammy Awards last night for "Love On Top."

That woman did not have her baby, she has no photos of her pregnancy, as much as she likes the limelight she would have let every media outlet snap those pics! When she did come out at 8 months, her belly folded!!! LOL she paid someone to have her baby and that lady is living it up in a foreign country with a lifetime supply of cash! I am not jealous, hell I gave birth to 2 babies and have pictures to prove it! Does she? NO! Will be laughing my ass off when the truth comes out!

Jealousy does strange things to nice folks. Well I guess she "Got It All." Now live with it! I for one love, love, love to see women of color prosper. Ya'll just don't think it's fair to share, you'd love to keep it all to yourself...too bad. Guess the good Lord wants us all to have a piece of the pie.

Yeah, right- doubt for a second that's what she was thinking while pushing! Only women who have given birth know exactly what I'm saying! Perhaps had she been drugged, or had a section- but, that's not what she's saying. if true- then she is the only woman on this planet to say or think what she was. Happen to love, and adore Beyonce- but, give me a break girl!!!!!! Be real -- tell the truth! "Labor and delivery were worse than anyone ever told you- and you couldn't wait for her to be born"! Unless she's the exception to labor and delivery- I aint buying her story!

Sorry, but my very first labor and delivery was the easiest imaginable. Every woman experiences and handles pain differently. I was blessed to have a very high tolerance for pain and had a very short L&D. My daughter was born quickly and without meds. My doctor and the hospital staff were amazed at how easy it was for me. It was very surreal, because I imagined the most horrific pain in the world and it was nothing like many had suggested.

Now my 2nd baby was another story, because both of us almost died!

I see, so a successful Black woman opens up about her labor and the question is did she share too much. But some White celebrity TMI's from here to Istanbul and you guys slurp it up...what a bunch of hypocritical jokes. Beyonce' is beautiful, rich, successful and talented, get over it. No matter what anyone says or does, it doesn't diminish any of it.

I don't know who wrote this script for her, but it's getting old. Just read a review on her doc.--by the way they it's so bad it's good. I believe she had a baby more than I will ever believe she writes music. She's too aware of herself to share, too conceited to be authentic, and not eloquent enough to put two sentences together.

Well said. I agree with you 100%. I'm not trying to knock Beyonce, but enough already, she is waaay over exposed and not all that!! There are sooo many talents out there today in the music biz sooo much better than her that don't get half the publicity or recognition she does. People put her on a pedestal which is not deserved.

I really don't believe she faked her pregnancy,She got to much money for that and jay is no clown,He real.People just mad because she keep her personal life away from the media,If people would not put their energy in hating on Jay and Bey they would do better,I had two kids and I was not big at all and was in labor for 30 minutes and no medication,everybody is different....I say this to Jay and Bey keep people out of yall personal business.Only let out what you want,give the haters something to think and talk about,they(haters) will never get rich and your marriage will continue to shine!!
