Oscars 2013, Jennifer Hudson: Singer Performs 'You're Gonna Love Me'

Jennifer Hudson wasn't nominated for any awards, but she surfaced anyway at the 2013 Oscars last night (Feb. 24) to perform "You're Gonna Love Me," her signature tune from Dreamgirls.

She literally brought the house down, earning a standing ovation and all.

This, despite the fact that her performance came during a tribute to musicals which also featured Catherine Zeta-Jones, Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Russell Crowe and Amanda Seyfried, among others.

Think we're exaggerating? Watch the performance again and tell us if it's not special.

First of all, the song is "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going”, NOT "You're Gonna Love Me,". As for the performance, Jennifer Hudson unsuccessfully attempted to channel (much more than she had previously), "Dreamgirls" original Jennifer; she obviously thought screeching in a key higher than which she is capable, borrowing Ms. Holliday's trademark flourishes and extra reverb would produce an amazing Oscar performance. It was a classic case of "all sizzle and no steak." The true diva of the evening? Dame Shirley Bassey (at age 76)!
