Juelz Santana Talks Cam'ron and Diplomat Departure

While most artists would be a bit peeved at the thought of their former label disclosing the parameters of their release, Juelz Santana is not the least bit bothered, especially since the trash talking came from his former mentor. Earlier this month, Cam'ron came out of hiding and revealed that he sold Santana's contract to Def Jam for $2 million. It's unclear whether the MC was boasting about the paycheck he received to release the Dipset youngin', taking a stab at his former ace or delivering a combo of the aforementioned scenarios.

Either way, Santana admits that the comment was unnecessary, but the MC isn't bitter. "I was upset about the part of me being 'sold for $2 million,' " Santana said in a recent interview. "At times like this, nobody is trying to 'sell' me. I could have come out and said, 'Oh, yeah, Cam got bought out.' But I didn't go that route. They just gotta watch me move. We gonna make it hot."

Santana goes on to claim that Cam and Diplomat Records were preventing him from putting out music and collaborating with big name acts. "I'm just gonna say a lot of big records. ... I was on a good portion of those records, or asked to be on a good portion of those records that [Lil] Wayne was on - along with him, not like they asked me before they asked him, or vice versa .... The fans definitely missed out on a lot of Juelz due to my contract."

New Releases: GZA's Got 'Pro Tools,' Ice Cube Shows Us the 'Raw Footage'

When Wu-Tang first formed like Voltron, no one suspected that the GZA (who just happened to be the head, at the time) would release more solo albums than Meth or Rae, but here we are.

With 'Pro Tools,' the fifth installment from the mind of the Genius, we get an album that should satisfy virtually all GZA fans- weird Wu-Wearing, Killer-Bee-Swarm-obsessed Europeans and regular old people alike. Featuring a 50 Cent dis track, a gang of familiar guests (Masta Killa, RZA, True Master), and timely production from the likes of RZA, DJ Muggs, Nottz (killing it as usual) and Black Milk, this might be the best Wu-related album in a minute, and it's definitely worth checking out. Or continue waiting for that Rae album that should be coming this Neverary.

Speaking of quadragenarians with an album out, Ice Cube's 'Raw Footage,' also drops today, which we guess is a play on words because Cube is such a raw actor or something. The album features production by DJ Toomp, Emile and Scott "I'm still alive" Storch, and is said to be a return to form for the militant family-film star. Unfortunately, though Cube's verse on Killer Mike's "Pressure" seemed promising, tracks like "Why Me?" with that crazy thugged out Musiq Soulchild, prove otherwise. "I'm a bull in Barcelona/With a Corona," Cube spits. We cringe.

Eve to 'Whip It' in Upcoming Film

Former "Pit Bull in a Skirt," Eve is planning a return to the big screen in the Drew Barrymore directorial debut, 'Whip It,' about a beauty pageant contestant turned roller derby diva.

The rapper-turned-actress will star alongside Juno star Ellen Page in the comedy/drama based on the Shauna Cross novel 'Derby Girl.' While we're happy to see Eve back on the scene, it would be great if the rap diva released an album.

Eve teased fans with the 2007 Swizz Beatz -produced party track 'Tambourine,' but never released her anticipated comeback album, 'Here I Am,' which was scheduled to hit stores August 2007.

50 Cent Tops Forbes List of Hip Hop Cash Kings

You'd think Jay-Z's $150 million deal with Live Nation would place Hova at the top of the ladder when ranking hip-hop's highest earners, but it looks like 50 Cent reigns supreme in 2008. According to Forbes' Hip Hop Cash Kings list, 50 brought home $100 million after taxes when Coca-Cola brought VitaminWater from Glaceau in a $4.1 billion deal.

All the usual suspects make the Top 10. Jay landed at the No. 2 spot with an $82 million dollar payday while Diddy sits at No. 3 for the second year in a row. Kanye West took the No. 4 spot, bringing home $30 million from albums sales, endorsement deals and tours/concerts. Super-producer Timbaland rounds out the list in the No. 5 spot.
