Blige received an award for Fragrance of the Year in the Direct to Consumer category and was a Sales Breakthrough of the Year Winner. My Life was created in a partnership between Blige and Carol's Daughter founder Lisa Price. Blige sold over 60,000 bottles in a day via the Home Shopping Network in 2010, making her the first to sell that amount in HSN history. Excited about winning the prestigious awards, Blige thanked her fans via Twitter. "I'm so excited to tell my family the My Life fragrance won 2 huge awards at the Fifi's tonight!!!! Anthony Mandler Jennifer Hudson is currently pitching a book deal about her recent weight loss and lifestyle change, but the Oscar and Grammy Award winner may have some trouble getting publishers to snag her story considering some want dramatic content rather than a read about a slim figure. In the midst of trying to sell her story, J Hud's feathers were ruffled on Monday (May 30) when she got wind that Bossip.com had posted a story alleging that she was having trouble pitching her book because literary agents are more interested in the tragic murders of her family. Bossip ran the story under the headline, "Publishers Would Rather Try To Make Money From The Hudson Family Murders Than J. Hud's Slimmy Trimmy-Dom." After finding out about the posting, Hudson wrote a number of angry tweets aimed at the folks over at Bossip. ...

"Something's are priceless. How low can people go. I just don't get it. Stop making up s---!!! Everyday I wake up I'm constantly reminded how cruel n heartless the world is ... So cold!! Wow!" she tweeted. "Bossip u owe me an apology! Y would u take someone's tragedy and build a story of nothing but lies around it...F-k u!!!! "

Bossip, who claims to have used the New York Post's Page Six as a source, responded to J. Hud via Twitter.

"What did we do? You must have misread our post. Why aren't you upset with the NY Post? That was our source! But we reaaaaally think you misread the post. Really. Look again. Look at the headline! We said the PUBLISHERS want that story. Where is the lie????"

The website also released a statement to Access Hollywood in an attempt to clear up what they are labeling a misunderstanding. "We think what happened this morning is simply that Jennifer misread the headline on our post and reacted without ever reading the story," read the statement.

Jennifer Hudson's mother, brother and nephew were murdered in her hometown of Chicago, Ill. in 2008. Following the tragedy, she gave birth to a son, David in 2009, and then dropped 80 pounds as a spokesperson for Weight Watchers.

Her second studio album, 'I Remember Me,' was released on March 22, 2011. Hudson will likely perform songs off the effort, including the title track and 'Where You At,' during her set at the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans on July 1.

A Twitter beef between Nelly and a man name Slim occurred last week, when the Missouri native fired off at Slim for trying to book him for an appearance at a basketball game in St. Louis. In retaliation Slim, who also claimed to be Nelly's manager, tweeted that the '5.0' creator was broke due to a gambling and drug habit and also alleged that he was close to foreclosure on his home. In response, Nelly fired back via Twitter, stating that Slim wasn't his manager, but a promoter who he'd worked with in the past and that his claims were false.

"First if you believe Slim was my manager then this is pointless anyway. Second don't nothing go in this body but fish, chicken, turkey, protein, ROZAY, Ciroc, Remy and Budweiser! Nelly is currently working on a new LP that he plans to release before the end of 2011. This will mark the rapper's seventh studio album.

The Atlanta native, who is currently serving an 11-month prison sentence at Forrest City Correctional Facility in Forrest City, Ark. for violating his probation, sponsored a bus trip for the family and friends of 14 inmates to visit the prison as part of a weekend tagged "To See a Love One." "I've been blessed to receive tons and tons of mail from my fans, family and friends, as well as get visits on a regular basis. Unfortunately some guys aren't as fortunate," T.I. told MTV News. "There are a lot of good dudes in here that haven't been able to see their loved ones in years. Their families can't afford the trip so I wanted to help out." ...

As part of "To See a Love One," 46 family members and friends from Atlanta and Alabama rode on a chartered bus on Saturday (May 28) to visit the prison on Sunday and Monday.

T.I., born Clifford Harris, Jr. will be released from prison on September 29, 2011. His seventh studio album, 'No Mercy,' was released in December 2010. He went on to sell over 500,000 copies despite being incarcerated at the time.

Vibe Landing the cover of Vibe Magazine's Sexy Issue started off as a happy moment for model Amber Rose, until she actually read what the publication printed about her. Rose, who gained popularity while dating hip-hop star Kanye West, sounded off via Twitter late Saturday evening (May 28), saying the cover story was "untrue and ridiculous." "Just read 'my' interview in @VibeMagazine half of the story was untrue & ridiculous," Rose tweeted. Paul is denying reports that he has plans to release a book detailing an alleged relationship with Hov's wife, R&B singer Beyoncé. The book -- a chronicle of his life growing up in middle-class Jamaica -- is rumored to expose the tryst that occurred while the 'I Am... Sasha Fierce' creator was taking a break from her relationship with Jay. News about the book surfaced on the Internet earlier this week and the Grammy Award-winning reggae singer took to Twitter to refute the claims. ...

The business relationship the rep speaks of occurred in 2003, when the two collaborated on the Destiny's Child frontwoman's hit song 'Baby Boy.'

Sean Paul's last album, 'Imperial Blaze,' was released in 2009. He is set to headline the UCLA JazzReggae Destival, alongside Lupe Fiasco, on May 30.

In 2010, he was featured in a reality show based on his home improvement skills called 'The Vanilla Ice Project,' which ran on the DIY Channel. ...

On the music front, Vanilla Ice's sixth studio album, 'WTF' (Wisdom, Tenacity and Focus), has yet to see a release date. As for other acting projects, he is set to appear in a U.K. run of 'Peter Pan,' where he will be doing a pantomime performance.

Though it's unfinished, the song clearly showcases Nicki taking direct aim at Kim, unlike the subliminal shots heard on 'Roman's Revenge.' 'Tradegy,' which was produced by Hit-Boy -- he's crafted hits for the likes of Kanye West ('Christmas in Harlem'), Eminem and Lil Wayne ('Drop the World') and Mary J. Blige ('Stronger') -- will eventually go by another name and is rumored to appear on Wayne's 'Tha Carter IV' album, set for release May 16.

On Friday (April 1), in what could have been an April Fools joke, a source close to Lil Kim reportedly revealed she and Nicki Minaj would put an end to their tiff during the Chicago leg of the I Am Still Music tour.

On his radio show Friday (March 25), Joyner announced that Brown was removed for inexplicable behavior and then escorted to a plane. "We put Foxy off the cruise ... Let's just say she got put off. You had to really act a fool to get put off," Joyner revealed. No details were released as to what exactly prompted the radio host to have Foxy removed. Following her departure from the cruise ship, Foxy called into Joyner's Show for a brief interview, that according to him, was cut short by the rapper. "You know Foxy, after the interview, she called back and she was crying," he continued. "And I said, 'See, she's gonna be alright.' Well I was proven wrong." ...

Instead, Foxy, no stranger to media gossip, took to Twitter last week to air out the 61-year-old Joyner.

Illtown Records While some artists refuse to accept the changing times and the signs of wrinkles, rap trio Naughty By Nature welcome both with open arms. Treach, Vin Rock and DJ Kay Gee are well-aware of the fact that they are no longer young superstars, but that hasn't stopped their will to succeed. Since the rap group formed in 1989, they've witnessed many changes in the hip-hop landscape. One of the most astounding advancements being the emergence of social media platforms. "Last year with Facebook and Twitter, we really anchored on to social media as an outlet," Vin Rock reveals. "We've had our first website up since 1996, and we stayed online with this thing the whole time. It's very important to us. Right now, we're getting the most important impact from people globally and a lot of people might not hear our records on the radio a million times a day, but [they] definitely [hear them] online." ...

Naughty By Nature's work ethic has earned the group the title of hip-hop icons. As 40-something rappers, they feel with age comes experience and a number does nothing to define their creative spirit. As long as there's a warm reception from fans, celebrating another year older is no reason to put down the mic.

"I just think a lot of people are paranoid about age; ageism is big in hip-hop," says Vin Rock. "As artists and business people, you shouldn't be pigeon-holed in any given thing. Look at the growth of Queen Latifah and Will Smith... As artists you can do music, you can do television and film, you can do business ventures like you see Diddy and Jay-Z doing. So for people that get paranoid, some of your hottest rappers today are in the mid-30's when people [used] to say once you're 30 years old you shouldn't be rapping."

Treach also had similar sentiments to share. "Truthfully, some of the artists out there lose their love for it as they get older in the game and they don't have that hunger and that fight [anymore]," he continues. "So they feel like they can't keep up. In my book, it's like this: Keep doing it until you know you're wack. Good music is good music. Bauer-Griffin Mary J. Blige will engage in a new strategy taken on by the fragrance world during an appearance on the HSN on July 31. The Grammy award-winner will pitch her new fragrance, titled My Life, without consumers actually knowing what the perfume actually smells like. Blige has spent the last seven months creating the scent with the brand Carol's Daughter. The singer says it's for women "who love tuberose, love jasmine, [and] love fruit." "It's all a reflection of my personality," Blige tells The Associated Press. "Me and a lot of my fans want to smell soft and a little fruity -- but not too fruity with bees chasing us around - and also strong and beautiful... It's all there." After working on the fragrance and wearing it daily Blige says, "I knew exactly what I wanted it to smell like. I needed to love it and be able to live with it for years. I am not impressed with the hot thing." ...

When it came down to choosing a name, Mary says she chose the title from her second album 'My Life.' "When I put myself out there with that album I was asking for help," she says. "When my fans heard those songs, they told me they needed help too, and told me, 'We're going through this together,'... Johnny Nunez, WireImage As part of their own imprint, Illtown Records, Naughty By Nature-comprised of Treach, Vin Rock and DJ Kay Gee-have remained pro-active in their careers, but recently the trio re-joined forces with Tom Silverman and their former label, Tommy Boy Records, to sign a distribution deal. As part of the collaboration, they've released an EP promoting two new singles: 'Get To Know Me Better' and 'I Gotta Alotta.' The tracks are off of their new album, 'Anthem Inc.' due out later this year. "We always kept in touch with Tom Silverman," Vin Rock tells The Boombox. "We have a healthy post-label relationship with him. He came to us and was like, 'You guys are at a point in your career where you should be in the Jimmy Buffet business. The music industry is changing and it's all about branding so you guys should be partnering up with corporate America." ...

Silverman informed Vin Rock and his team that the business they were once in had drastically changed, though the group was well aware of the industry's ups and downs. "We're not in the music business now, we're in the Naughty By Nature business," Vin says. "[Tom] was like, 'I want to be on the team and partner up with you guys. So we finally just figured out what the relationship would be and we just started. This first distribution deal is the first part of it."

The group's new single, 'Get To Know Me Better,' is part of that deal. Known for creating party anthems such as 'Hip Hop Hooray' and 'O.P.P.,' they decided to try something different this time around. "We knew some [people] would get it, some wouldn't," Vin shares. "We decided to back it up with a B-side which was 'I Got Alotta.' [We decided to] put both records out there and see what the people feel."

A benefit of their new project is the freedom to experiment with new sounds and new ideas. "One of the great things about us being independent is that we can try different things that are untraditional," Vin Rock continues. "Get out the box and just try to do something a little different. If it works it works if it doesn't it doesn't, but that's what music is about - creating."

As for the remainder of Naughty By Nature's new album, they are taking the same approach. Treach says that while experimenting with different style of music, they often test out new songs while on tour to see the reaction from their fans.

"The album is basically what people have been asking for," Treach says. "We don't come out and talk about how the game is and all the rest of the propaganda. We just do what we feel is missing. We always stay on the road, so we always perform new songs and try them on people. According to a complaint filed on July 21, Foxy Brown, born Inga Marchand, is said to have verbally assaulted and exposed herself to Raymond. In a statement issued to The Boombox by Foxy's manager, Bernadette Brennan, addressed the arrest and accusations associated with the Brooklyn native. "Foxy is completely innocent," Brennan said. "She is in good spirits and is looking forward to her performance at B.B. Kings this Sunday [July 25]. She wouldn't miss it for the world." Foxy, who was released on $5,000 bail, appeared in a Brooklyn criminal court on Thursday (July 22) and was charged with one count of criminal contempt - a class E felony - for violating the order of protection filed by Raymond. "This case will exemplify that orders of protection should be used as shields and not as swords," Bruce Baron, Foxy's lawyer, said outside the courtroom. ...Brennan also made mention that Brown is currently rehearsing at Night Life Studios in New York in preparation for her show on Sunday, where she will share the bill with special guests A.Z., Cormega, Roxanne Shante, and Spragga Benz.

"Foxy feels very blessed and thankful to be back in the studio making music and we plan to prove that she is 100% percent innocent," Brennan said.

If convicted, Brown could serve up to seven years in jail. Director Antoine Fuqua is set to start shooting a biopic based on the life of Tupac Shakur in September, but no announcement has been made stating who will play the late rapper. So, in an effort to land the role San Diego based actor Amiri Starr has launched a grassroots, online campaign to grab the attention of Fuqua. Starr has put together an audition tape portraying Tupac in several different facets and posted it on both YouTube and Facebook pages. And following his intense journey of studying Tupac through his music, video footage, interviews and other sources, Starr believes he has what it takes to fully capture Tupac's genuine essence. ...

"In contrast to the others that I've seen who want the role, I feel like I take this more serious than merely memorizing some lines, throwing on a bandanna, screaming 'West Side' and thinking that I've got him nailed. I've done the character study even after the audition tape, and I've really sought to discover the inner workings and mysteries of the man," says Starr.

Motivated by director Antoine Fuqua request to find someone with a new face to fill the role of Tupac, Starr says he's looking forward to the opportunity to meet Fuqua and formally audition for the role. "I would truly be humbled and honored to portray one of the biggest, most polarizing African-American revolutionary of the past century."

Since reports surfaced that Clipse's member Pusha T will be releasing his first solo mixtape 'The Fear of God' on September 14, the same day as Kanye West and his G.O.O.D Music Camp -- Consquence, Kid Cudi, and Big Sean -- drop their releases, questions are now being asked if Pusha will be joining the G.O.O.D music roster. In a recent interview with MTV Pusha hinted at the possibility. "That's just a good day. A great day for music, but it's a "good" day," he said. "I mean you know. I been to Hawaii. Hawaii is a nice place. Good music is made down there, ya know. So, yeah, I was there. I can't say too much about that. I think everybody's gonna be in for a big surprise. A very big surprise." Hawaii is where Kanye West has been working with his G.O.O.D Music artists for the past few months, so Pusha T making reference to his visit just adds further speculation.
