Algebra Blessett

Atlanta-based singer Algebra Blessett has made a career from songwriting but she's always wanted to be the main attraction. Her voice garnered attention from industry vet Kedar Massenburg back in 2005, and subsequently signed to Motown Records under his Kedar imprint. She then dropped her critically acclaimed debut, Purpose, in 2008. Soon after, Algebra found herself as an independent artist once again. But the title has never irked her; she's always been a free spirit and her knack for writing has put her on a national platform. Algebra's earned Grammys for her work with India Arie and collaborated with friends like Esmeralda Spalding and Eric Roberson. With the upcoming release of her second album, she hopes to continue bringing variety and spirited singing back to the forefront of R&B.
