Make Creepy Threats Work

As previously stated, R&B at its best is vulnerable and sensitive -- even creepy as long as the music is catchy. Def Jam's first R&B artist, Oran "Juice" Jones dropped "In the Rain" in 1986, and it still makes us dance. But the actual lyrics and ad-libs to this track would make anyone squirm.

He sings, "Yeah how was your day today/ Did you miss me/ (Never be the same) You did? Yeah? I missed you too/ I missed you so much I followed you today/ (I saw you) That's right now close your mouth/ 'Cause you cold busted/ (Walking in the rain)..."

You get the impression that Jones has lived this experience he sings about and if you can forget that he's actually stalking his lady as it rains on his head, it remains one of R&B's funkiest songs about infidelity.
