Kid Cudi had become a bona fide superstar before the release of his debut album, 'Man on the Moon: The End of Day.' Although he was signed to Kanye's label, Cudi had self-ownership in mind, so he and his friends Patrick "Plain Pat" Reynolds and Emile Haynie founded the Dream On imprint under the G.O.O.D. Music/Universal Motown umbrella. Their official statement read, "[Universal] was the first to take notice of our movement and truly grasp our vision. We are thrilled to extend and deepen our relationship. It's a great feeling to watch the world discover the talent we saw in Cudi over these past years."
