Lupe Fiasco Leaning Towards Retirement, Reveals Title of Third Album

Lupe Fiasco has been threatening to throw in the towel and say goodbye to the game since he entered the business, but this time the rapper explains that retirement could be just one album away.

"When I came in, I was like, 'Yeah, I want to be a rapper, and I want to make three albums,' " the rapper told MTV. "But we'll see. It's amazing. I'm going to go away with a bang. ... I'm treating it like I'm filming 'Lord of the Rings.' ... They had to film [that trilogy] over four to five years. It's going to take me about two years to put [my last album] together right. I'm 85 percent sure that my next album, 'LUPN,' will be the end-all."

While Lupe seems to have his departure all mapped out, the rapper admits that there's an extra component that could hold him to the microphone after his third project. "I don't want to say I'm 100 percent sure, like, 'Yeah, this is it.' But 85 percent," he explained. "That 15 percent is the X factor. That could be bills. Like, 'Lupe, you got to pay the bills.' 'Oh, man, I got to put out another album.' "

Well, it's nice to know Lupe's got his head in the right place. There's no pension plan for former rap stars.

Lupe Fiasco Feat Nikki Jean, 'Hip Hop Saved My Life' - New Video

Artist: Lupe Fiasco feat. Nikki Jean
Song: 'Hip Hop Saved My Life'
Why You Should Watch: The Chi-Town emcee tells the tale -- which he knows so well -- of a struggling up-and-coming rapper in his new video for the second single off his sophomore effort, 'The Cool.'

T.I., Young Jeezy Join Lupe Fiasco on Superstar Remix

Lupe Fiasco's 'Superstar' gets a swig of Southern Comfort with the help of Young Jeezy and T.I. on the remix. While Fiasco gears up for his upcoming 'Glow in the Dark' outing with Kanye West, Rihanna and N.E.R.D., Jeezy is reportedly working on his untitled follow-up to 2006's 'The Inspiration: Thug Motivation 102.' T.I., who's currently under house arrest while awaiting trial for federal weapons charges, is also in the studio -- his home studio, of course -- working on his upcoming album, 'Paper Trail.'

Alicia Keys, Kanye West Snag Early Grammys

Alicia Keys' 'No One' was honored with the Grammy Award for Best R&B Song before the show even got under way. The category honors the songwriter, not the performer, so Keys' writing/producing partners Dirty Harry and Kerry Brothers shared the honor with the singer/songwriter.

Kanye West, who was nominated for eight Grammy awards, started his celebration early with 'Good Life' grabbing an award for Best Rap Song and 'Stronger' for Best Rap Solo Performance.

Other early winners include Chaka Khan's 'Funk This' for Best R&B album, Ne-Yo's 'Because of You' for Best Contemporary R&B album, and Lupe Fiasco, featuring Jill Scott, snagged Best Urban/Alternative Performance for 'DayDreamin'.'

Slangtastic: Cornball

Entry: cornball
Definition: Someone you'd categorize as being corny or trite
Synonym: dork, loser
Antonym: stunna
Lyric: "I warned y'all cornballs, I hush puppies/The swans in the pond called my duck ugly" -- Lupe Fiasco, 'I Gotcha'

Before he became a 'Superstar,' Lupe could have easily been mistaken for the astute -- but definitely not cool -- boy next door. I'm sure anyone who called the rapper a cornball is eating his words as we speak.

Kanye West to Hit the Road With Lupe Fiasco, Rihanna

Kanye West is ready to prove that he is, in fact, the "No. 1 human in music." West, who's been teasing fans and visitors to his official blog with posts insinuating an upcoming jaunt, announced that he's hitting the road with Lupe Fiasco, N.E.R.D and Rihanna on the 'Glow in the Dark' tour.

The super-producer/rapper has also given us a taste of what's to come from Neptunes' producer Pharrell Williams side project N.E.R.D with a recent post featuring new music from the outfit.

The road trip will also give Child Rebel Soldier (CRS), the supergroup consisting of West, Lupe and Williams, a chance to preview music from their forthcoming project.

Lupe Comes Home on Halloween

Chicago-bred rapper Lupe Fiasco brought some of 'The Cool' and a little 'Food and Liquor' to the Chicago House of Blues on Halloween. The emcee, who's often praised for bringing a breath of fresh air to hip-hop, mixed it up for the excited crowd.

Lupe ran through his hits 'Kick, Push' and 'Daydreamin'' before launching into new tracks such as 'Dumb It Down' and 'The Coolest.'

In an energetic performance of Lupe's new single, 'Superstar,' featuring newcomer Matthew Santos, the rapper bounced around the stage, spitting the lyrics to a song so fitting of the young rapper that doesn't seem to be concerned with achieving 'superstar' status.

Lupe Fiasco Threatens to Sue Vibe Over 'Fiascogate'

The blogosphere is buzzing with recent reports that Lupe Fiasco is threatening to sue Vibe magazine for defamation of character. Fiasco claims that the magazine is the cause of 'Fiascogate,' which erupted after the Chicago-bred emcee screwed up the lyrics to A Tribe Called Quest's 'Electric Relaxation' during a tribute performance at VH1's Hip-Hop Honors.

Vibe published an article that made Fiasco look like he was anti-Tribe, using quotes from an interview that happened before the VH1 program was taped.

According to the rapper: "[Tribe] didn't sell 10 million records, so why would people feel they had a blanket on the world like that?" Fiasco went on to tell Vibe that he's never listened to the classic 'Midnight Marauders,' and defended his disinterest in Tribe's critically acclaimed album. "There's kids in Harlem who right now would never ever listen to 'Midnight Marauders', I don't give a f--- what you do, they'll never listen to Q-Tip and they want to be rappers and they want to talk about positive things. So why would you shoot them down?"
