Beyonce's father and manager, Matthew Knowles -- known for being the driving force behind the pop/R&B diva's enormous success -- defended his daughter and called Aretha Franklin's recent criticism of the 26-year-old's Grammy tribute performance, "ridiculous."

The Queen of Soul made a fuss and expressed discontent with Beyonce's reference to Tina Turner as "the queen." "I am not sure of whose toes I may have stepped on or whose ego I may have bruised between the Grammy writers and Beyonce," Franklin said in a statement released Tuesday. "However, I dismissed it as a cheap shot for controversy."

But like any decent parent, Papa Knowles responded to Franklin's slam in an interview with CelebTV.com on Wednesday. "As a manager I am not taking something this ridiculous to Beyonce," Knowles told CelebTV.com. "Beyonce referred to Tina Turner as a 'queen.' Not queen of gospel, queen of soul, queen of blues, Queen of England. I consider my wife a queen and sometimes call her that. Does Aretha have a problem with that?"

Knowles went on to rip Franklin in a statement released to PEOPLE on Thursday. "Something this ridiculous -- it's childish, it's unprofessional. And it's a sad day when egos get bruised because somebody used the word king, queen, prince or princess." Read the full story.

R&B/pop diva Beyonce will share the stage with six-time Grammy winner Tina Turner at the Grammy Awards on Sunday. The 26-year-old has admitted to being a fan of the leggy legend.

"Every now and then when I think of inspiration, I think of the two Tinas in my life -- that's my mother, Tina, and, of course, the amazing Tina Turner," Beyonce said before launching into a rousing performance of Turner's 'Proud Mary' at the 2005 Kennedy Center Honors. "I'll never forget the first time I saw you perform. I'd never in my life saw a woman so powerful, so fearless, so fabulous ... and those legs!"

Beyonce and Turner will join a slew of previously announced performers including Aretha Franklin, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, Alicia Keys, Fergie, John Legend, Josh Groban, Andrea Bocelli, Feist, Foo Fighters, Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood.

Rock pioneer Ike Turner, whose legacy has been thwarted by a history of physical abuse toward former wife, Tina Turner, died at age 76 in his San Diego home, according to TMZ.

Turner -- real name Izear Luster Turner, Jr. -- began his career as the bandleader of Ike Turner's Kings of Rhythm. The group released their most famous recording 'Rocket 88,' which has been dubbed the "first rock and roll record," in 1951.

He would later become known for being the brain behind the R&B duo Ike and Tina Turner, writing and producing their '60s and early '70s hits such as 'A Fool in Love,' 'It's Gonna Work Out Fine,' 'River Deep, Mountain High," 'Proud Mary' and 'Nutbush City Limits.' Ike and Tina parted ways in 1976.
