All is well in the Raymond/Patton household now that Usher has rehired his mother, Jonetta Patton, as his manager. Let's say it together: Aww, how sweet! The news comes as no surprise to bloggers and entertainment sites that reported the singer's discontent with high-powered manager Benny Medina.

According to reports, Usher has given Medina the boot and blames him for the less than stellar sales of his recent comeback album, 'Here I Stand,' which has sold 946,000 copies since its May 27 release date. While 'Here I Stand' is by no means a brick, it's nowhere near as successful as the singer's 2004 album 'Confessions,' which sold a whopping 3.77 million in it's first 10 weeks on the shelves.

With an artist like Usher, the bar is set really high. Whether it was management, marketing or the music, we achieved a number one single and a number one album," Medina said in a statement to People. "It is a completely new day and time in music now. In four years, his audience, demographic, and musical direction has changed. Records like Lil Wayne's 'Lollipop' are the type of phenomena that 'Yeah' was in 2004. I had a great time and we parted ways amicably."

Usher's 'Love in This Club', Lil Wayne's 'Lollipop', T.I.'s 'No Matter What', Chris Brown's 'With You' and Flo Rida's 'Low' will battle it out for Best Male Video at the 25th annual MTV Video Music Awards, airing live September 7. Mariah Carey, Jordin Sparks and Rihanna will go head-to-head with Katy Perry and Britney Spears in the Best Female Video Category.

Fans can contribute to the VMAs by tuning in to MTV's 'FNMTV' every Friday at 8 p.m. where they'll announce two new categories. Viewers can log on to vma.mtv.com to vote for their favorite artists and videos.

Host, presenters and additional performers will be announced at a later date.

Looks like Usher misses his mama. According to reports, the R&B sensation is contemplating rehiring his mom Jonetta Patton as his manager.

Usher fired/retired his momager last year and replaced her with famed superstar-maker Benny Medina, but sources claim the singer isn't happy with Medina's services. The singer is reportedly not pleased with the sales of his latest release 'Here I Stand,' which sold 433,000 in its first week. While 433,000 is nothing to sneeze at, 2004's 'Confessions' was a huge success with 1.1 million copies sold its first week in stores.

"People have been telling Usher to listen to his mother," a source told the New York Daily News. "Nobody knows how to sell him better than she does. Usher can be stubborn. But he may be ready."
