Kanye West, who was sure to be the highlight of tonight's KDWB's Jingle Ball concert, has canceled while he continues to struggle with the death of his mother, Donda West. Jingle Ball ticketholders will have to settle for performances from Avril Lavigne, Timbaland, Good Charlotte, Blake Lewis and Jordin Sparks.
"Due to a family matter, Kanye West has been forced to cancel his performance at the KDWB Jingle Ball 2007," read a statement from his record label. "He wants to thank his fans for their understanding and support at this time. He hopes to come back at the first possible opportunity."
West's mother died on November 10 in Los Angeles, after undergoing an abdominoplasty -- commonly known as a tummy tuck -- and breast reduction. She was 58.
West, who earned eight Grammy nods on Thursday, has not made a public appearance since breaking down during a performance in Paris, one week after his mother's death. The rapper/producer canceled a scheduled performance at the Victoria's Secret Fashion show, which aired December 4, and was replaced by Will.i.am.
