Harlem, N.Y. rapper Cam'ron has finally returned from obscurity. In a recent interview, the Dipset founder confirmed that his mother's illness is the reason behind his seclusion. After suffering three strokes in one day, which left her paralyzed on her left side, the rapper moved her to Florida to receive physical rehabilitation treatment. "[I] went down to Ft. Lauderdale for about a year and a half, got her in rehabilitation, got her walking again, making sure her health was right," he said.
On the flip side, he noted that the incessant "Where Is Cam'ron?" questions that flooded the internet worked as great free publicity. "I started using it towards my advantage...You can't buy that [kind of promotion].It was all about falling back and picking the right time."
Cam also opened up about his estrangement from Dipset and falling out with fellow member Jim Jones. "It's [kind of messed up," he said. "What you [have to] realize is that things can always be fixed behind the scenes. Once a problem gets public, it's kind of unfixable. The two things that you could say it was is: They come to my house and try to start a fake beef between me and [Jim]...and then [kind of] siding with 50 Cent when me and him is in the dead middle of beefing or whatever."
His next album 'Crime Pays' will hit stores April 28.
