Nas Asks Judge to Deny Kelis Spousal Support

Divorces are never pretty and it looks like things are about to get ugly between rap icon Nas and his pregnant, soon to be ex-wife, Kelis. According to reports, Nas does not want to pay his estranged (and, just a reminder, pregnant!) wife a dime in spousal support.

After being reportedly separated for a few weeks, Kelis, who's now almost eight months pregnant, filed for a divorce on April 30. The singer cited "irreconcilable" differences and was seeking child support, spousal support and joint custody of the pair's unborn child, but Nas has asked a judge to deny her spousal support request. The rapper is also requesting that Kelis pay her own legal fees.

i don't think he should pay her spousal support for one,she has her own singing carreer!however,if he did cheat then yea he should pay!leave the race stuff alone.

Kentdenero, WTF? Your post made no sense to anyone but yourself. Take a class, you obviously need one. Now, for the matter at hand. Any woman who files for divorce while 8 months pregnant is doing so out of desperation, and for no other reason. She obiviously feels her current environment is unsafe for her and her child and the situation is so bad, she must leave immediately. I'm sorry but any man who refuses to support his wife and child is no man at all. The rumor is he's banging everything in town while his wife at home is pregnant. You can't get much lower than that. Does this guy have any ethics or morals? It sure doesn't seem like it. This guy is just trash, fathering children all over hell and half of Georgia and not giving a dam about any of them. I'm sure the court will remind him of his responsibilities and force him to live up to them.

Both of these people are well capable of supporting themselves - spousal support should not be a factor. Split the assets, finalize the divorce, and move on. The only support that should be a concern here is child support. Each parent should be required to contribute equally to the care of the child.

My 29 year old daughter's father and my husband of four years at the time, did not want to support me or the baby I was carrying. I was abused during the pregnancy and finally did have to file for divorce. By the way, he made enough money to comfortably support me until the baby was born. Rather, he decided he was above the law, and placed his assets that he stole from our joint a/c in his mother's name. After court battles, he finally went to jail and had to sign over the house to me. His second wife, another soon-to-be-ex, bailed him out of jail. He left her when she was pregnant, too.

You should not have to pay spousal support to someone who can pay thier bills. I don't have a million..yet, and I make it and manage to pay child support. The notion that black guys don't pay child support isn't news is just the ignorance of some people. I filed on myself and I should be taking care of my child. Who cares if you don't know who Nas and Kelis is? Educate your self and in the meantime do yourself a favor and don't leave abrasive comments on aol. Hugh you and your sidekick only talk down on people because you don't have enough self esteem to talk about anything worth listening too...

*LIKKLE BIT.. I agree only with one part of you post and that is... There's another reason why she asked for the divorce and no, it wasn't due to "hormones".

As far as telling people to go to the site "Urban Org.",, you know as well as I do that the site is going to give stats. that will be pos. to the A.A. race. After all, it's a site devoted to A.A.'s. Do you really think that it's going to say that there's more blacks on welfare than any other race?? That's ludicruis to even think and I believe you know that...
