Rapper Foxy Brown and singer Toni Braxton are in serious tax trouble, according to recent reports.
Foxy is being sued by the IRS for owing $641,558 in federal taxes to the state of New York. In June, the IRS filed tax lien documents against Foxy for missing tax payments from 2003 to 2006.
The Brooklyn MC was also the center of a recent prison scandal which caused several top corrections officials to resign, amidst allegations that inmates like herself received better treatment than the general population.
No stranger to financial trouble, Braxton and husband Keri Lewis have been hit with lien documents by the state of California, and are accused of owing $79,315 in back taxes. Braxton filed for bankruptcy protection in 1998, owing over $1 million, despite having sold over 15 million albums worldwide, grossing well over $170 million.

At the risk of being called a comma Nazi, Shark needs to brush up on his/her grammar --
> change "herself" to "her." "Herself" is a reflexive pronoun and needs to show Foxy doing something to herself, not making a comparison
> drop the comma before "... and are..." The verb does not have a subject, so there is no clause, therefore no comma
> drop the comma before "...despite.." It isn't necessary. "Despite" should be "...in spite of..."
Finally, I am not an accountant, but can you owe IRS (Federal) taxes to the state of NY.
Folks, don't take this the wrong way, but our children will only learn from good examples and we need to give them those.

You are too funny, and sadly correct! If I wrote like that, I guess I'd go by the name Shark also... How did he get a job? Geez! I'd like to believe that the person that wrote this is an outsourced overseas person without command or comprehension of the English language....or the concept of "State" or "Federal"...LMAO seriously! Thanks TGIF!

Post that have grammer and spelling errors are part of the blogosphere. My children don't read these posts. This DOES show what we already know. The schools are not using tax payer monies to teach the kids anymore. They aren't even collecting taxes, according to this article. So many children never learn grammer anymore. They are focused on "acheivement" tests that are programmed so that nobody fails. They don't want to hurt anyone's self esteem while they are in school. No, we wait till they are in the main stream and they get ridiculed for their lack of proficiency in English. I think you know that ridicule on the boards doesn't HELP them learn english grammer or spelling. It just makes YOU look self rightous. The focus should be on the SCHOOL SYSTEM. Feel free to correct my typos and grammer errors. I will use the feedback, if need be, I promise. But in reality, I don't care if I spell something wrong. Mistakes happen. Our schools are making them every day! What are you doing to help correct that mistake? With your IQ, you would be an asset to the cause. Sincerely..

You are quite wrong about most of your English. Herself is used correctly. Maybe you should go back to school.

what would you expect from to DUMB N I G G E R S. They blew it all up with coke and bling, fancy cars and expensive vacations. Another example of N I G G E R S sucking the system instead of contributing to it. Then they will blame white officials of profiling and being racist.
talk2kcprat 7-24-2009
To Victorm480 and dodah001, I didn't recall anywhere in the article Brown or Braxton blaming white people for their financial misfortune. In fact, I don't think that failing to pay taxes is a black thing. I pay mine. Also, why don't you pull your heads out of your asses and look up the recent tax evasion of Michael Madsen and Stephen Baldwin, both filing bankruptcy within the past few months. If you don't already know, they're both white. And wasn't it Baldwin, among other white stars, who have not only lost their fortunes but have admitted to drug addiction publicly? Stop your racist attitudes, you both sound like idiots. Also, if I should ever acquire a large fortune and have it mishandled by a scheming accountant, should I blame my black mother or my white father? The world is changing and you'd better correct yourselves, or just leave it...

I couldn't agree more. Everything is not about race. Stuff happens. That's life for better or worse. Many entertainers are surrounded by people who only want to suck them dry and leave them holding the bag!
ibehoneytoouat 7-24-2009
Its not like Braxton is living beyond her means~ definately not for an entertainer ~ she is a mere 79.000 in debt , how many americans are in the same boat~ I wish they wouldnt always bring up her past bankruptcy,, that was 11 years ago~ you can see by numbers she was totally ripped off , somebody made money off all those records sold ,, and it wasnt her~ what a shame

For pete's sake....EVERYONE...listen up. There is NO LAW saying Taxes are LEGAL. People get "duped/scammed" into paying taxes because they claim (by signing the Online Forms) that their WORK income is Taxable! Listen folks, we don't work for PROFIT...we work to make a LIVING. You being paid for your hours worked is being COMPENSATED for your Labor. LABOR is NOT taxable.
The IRS cannot "mandate" anyone pay taxes because.....(are you ready for this)...there IS NO Statute/Code by U.S. Supreme Court that recognizes paying taxes. IRS Codes are NOT "law". IRS Codes are their OWN "Boyscout Committee". If people make agreements to pay taxes...that's their problem but the IRS CANNOT force you to file for taxes. When you go to work...REFILL out your W2 Form and claim "EXEMPT" because you work to make a living...you don't work to make a profit.

You handsome boyat 7-24-2009
Patriots, Firstly, you do have representation unless you are living in the 1700s. Next, there is no statute in the constitution that says you may not rape anyone. Are you ready for that? The IRS is a legal arm of the Federal government. Each state can tax you as well and there is nothing in the constitution about that either. If you don't pay taxes (which is impossible if you've ever purchased so much as a Snickers bar) post your name, address and photo. If you can get away without paying taxes after that, hell, I'll email you.
