Jay-Z and Oprah Spend the Weekend Together in Brooklyn

Jay-Z proved that he knows just about everybody this weekend when he hit up his old Brooklyn neighborhood and brought Oprah Winfrey along for the ride. The seemingly odd pairing caused a stir as fans scattered to get a shot of the duo.

Although there has been no official word on why they were hanging out together, the two were spotted chatting on the stoop of Hov's grandmother's house in the Bedford-Stuyvesant area of Brooklyn. They also spent time in the Marcy Housing projects where Hov grew up, and frequently mentions in his lyrics.

According to blogosphere buzz, the talk show host/ultimate philanthropist was filming an episode for the upcoming season of The Oprah Winfrey Show.

Once spotted, some onlookers flocked to their Twitter pages to announce the event. "All New Yorkers, Jay-Z & Oprah [are] on Lexington Lewis in Bed Stuy, Brooklyn," one New Yorker wrote. Rihanna was also said to also be there, but was not photographed.

In recent years, the daytime diva has openly criticized hip-hop music causing a rift between her and several rappers. Among them, 50 Cent, Ludacris, and Ice Cube who have all expressed their discontent towards the talk show host for not allowing them equal time on her show. Winfrey however has denied such allegations.

"I respect other people's rights to do whatever they want to do in music and art and whatever. So I am my own person, they are their own people," she said in an interview. "I respect their rights. I am a woman who has worked very hard for my status in the world and as a human being. I don't want to be marginalized by music or any form of art. ... I feel rap is a form of expression, as is jazz. I'm not opposed to rap. I'm opposed to being marginalized as a woman."

According to the rumor mill Winfrey was shooting a segment for an upcoming episode of her show, which will feature Hov. The rapper is prepping the release of his highly anticipated 'Blueprint 3' album, which hits stores September 11.

Oprah could be the most racist person living in this world today. If not, she follows in a close second to the great "rev." Al Sharpton.

I think that Oprah spending time with Jay-Z shows she has more of a "class" or "status" issue with rappers. We all know that 50, Luda, and Ice Cube got money but they are not on Jay's level. And even if they are it's still like "Old money" vs. "New money" (the status issue). It's the same age old issue that has been going on since the beginning of our time in the States.
