Yet another fan has hit rapper and producer Akon with a lawsuit after reporting injuries from a September 2007 concert in St. John, Canada. In her court statement, New Brunswick University student Katherine Teresa Hooper explained that she suffered severe injuries when Akon and his entourage tried to push their way through the crowded concert venue. According to court documents, "The plaintiff says that as Akon and his entourage approached her through the crowd she was unable to get out of his way due to the congestion of the crowd and lack of any control thereof. Akon and his entourage pushed and shoved the plaintiff, causing her to fall which resulted in serious personal injury."
Due to the extent of her injuries, Hooper is also targeting the concert venue, Harbour Station and the concert's promoter, Gillett Entertainment Group, for compensation. This incident is only the latest in Akon's series of mishaps with fans during his live shows. In November 2007, the Senegalese rapper was charged with endangering the welfare of a minor after tossing a young boy into the crowd during a show in Fishkill, N.Y. And in April 2007 he drew public criticism for vulgar dancing on stage with a 15-year-old girl during a concert in Trinidad & Tobago.
