Climbing that figurative mountain on the road to success is a necessary evil, but Chi-town rapper Lupe Fiasco has finalized plans to literally scale a mountain this coming January for the sake of charity. In 2010, Lupe will join a team of celebrities lead by Ethiopian singer/producer Kenna, who will climb Mount Kilimanjaro as a part of the Summit on the Summit project. The celebrity-endorsed charity climb aims to bring light to the fact over a billion people worldwide are forced to live without clean drinking water.
Although Lupe's involvement in the expedition has been rumored for some time, the rapper announced this weekend that he would officially participate in the climb. Other celebrities on board include actresses Isabel Lucas and Jessica Biel in addition to the project leader Kenna, who's father suffered from waterborne diseases as a child in Ethiopia.
For those not interested in treacherous mountain hikes, donations even as small as a dollar are welcomed by the water-based charity. According to the Summit foundation, one dollar can provide up to 100 liters of clean drinking water to families in need.
